things I love online today

1) Guy Kawasaki’s spectacular post about being on a U.S. aircraft carrier, 26 Hours at Sea: The Longest Posting in the History of Blogging. I’m halfway through so far, saving the rest for later. Sample fun fact: pilots are more likely to call themselves “Butthead” than “Iceman”.
2) Hugh Macleod’s 10 questions for Seth Godin. I have always been very interested in ideas about marketing (as opposed to actual chalk-face marketing, which I have always been very scared of). So watching these two gurus chewing over Godin’s latest thesis is quite a treat.
3) Shefaly’s thoughts about the current financial armageddon are different than the usual doomsaying, especially when she mentions Sillicon Valley in the same sentence as the crunch, which few yet dare to do. Seriously, if you are on Twitter and following any ‘weblebrities’, you would think you are on a different planet is right. It’s a little weird.
4) The money-saving beauty bargain comments on this post I wrote for the Jack and Hill beauty blog are really nice and clever. (Although I am not going to be saving much money with all the extra bargain-hunting trips to Asian stores etc to get stuff I wouldn’t have thought of before. But that’s well and good.)
5) Emerson, Lake and Palmer playing Fanfare for the Common Man in the Montreal Olympic Stadium. Fans of the proper Copland piece, like me, may find the music in this video a bit of a let-down. But you’ve got to hand it to EL&P for their “over-the-top theatrical bombast”, as Wikipedia calls it.

Alice: Thank you for the mention.
You locate me in such exalted company, I am humbled.
