3 things to make

You can buy a Martha Stewart Crafts ribbon storage box for $16.99, or you can make one yourself using a shoe-box and a couple of chopsticks. I made holes to push the chopsticks through- they overlap on the inside, through the holes in the ribbon reels. Essential if you have a few rolls of the stuff, and don’t want them to become automatic cats’ cradles. (Advantage of chopsticks over long piece of dowelling: they were already in the house.)
Also, you can buy a pizza stone from Amazon for $29.99 (although the postage is then free), or you can make one yourself using stone tiles from the DIY shop. What to make with stone tiles has been a ponderable with me for years, as they are so cheap and beautiful, but so far my only idea has been sticking felt on the back for coasters. However this idea is good mostly for those of us who have never given up the dream of clay-oven-cooked pizza at home, and who simply refuse to support the “pizza stone” industry by paying them $30 for a lump of rock in a cardboard box.
Also, your wallet is falling apart, why not make a new one from an Altoids tin? This design has brilliant added features. I also want to make the smaller Altoids tin LED flashlight. Although problems could arise, if you noticed the tin and really wanted an extra-strong mint and then had to realise it was just a wallet/ torch. Or, if carrying two tins, one for money/ illumination and the other with mints, confusing them and electrocuting one’s mouth. There must be a simple solution to the latter though.

People do all kinds of things with old Altoids tins.
Beyond the mundane “store stuff in it”, they make cameras, cases for electronics, speakers, and God only knows what else.
(The purely decorative projects are endless; the idea of portable pocket shrines from the last link, alone, is fruitful of limitless variation…)
